How content AI could transform your ethical business

How do you solve the problem of needing to generate regular, high-quality content on your website, but not having the time, money or other resources to do so? Say hello to content AI!

You’ve heard of AI, aka artificial intelligence, but what exactly is content AI and how does it work? In this post, we’ll give you an overview of why we think you should consider using AI content generation for your ethical business and how to get started.

What is content AI?

In its simplest form, content AI means using artificial intelligence to generate content. Like, literally any type of content you can think of. To get a more detailed response to this question, who better to ask than artificial intelligence itself!

You’ve probably heard of ChatGPT by now (if not, where have you been?!) and this is part of the answer it gave to the question, “What is content AI?”:

“Content AI, or Content Artificial Intelligence, refers to the application of artificial intelligence techniques and algorithms to create, analyse, and optimise content. It involves using AI technologies, such as natural language processing (NLP), machine learning, and deep learning, to automate various aspects of content creation, curation, and delivery.”

Nice! If a bit geeky.

ChatGPT also summarises the aims of content AI by adding, “Overall, Content AI aims to streamline content creation processes, improve the quality and relevance of content, and enhance user experiences by leveraging the capabilities of artificial intelligence.”

Sounds pretty good, right?

Is content AI a blessing or a curse?

Until fairly recently, artificial intelligence has been something we’ve mostly associated with sci-fi films and the distant future, or at least for most of us. But it seems to be infiltrating more and more areas of our lives with alarming speed. And now it’s the turn of content generation.

Suddenly, with the launch of ChatGPT and other platforms, AI content generation is available to all. And it’s a fast learner. However, as with any new technology, there are wildly differing views on the subject. You only have to do a quick Google search to find thousands of articles both for and against the rise of content AI.

And we get it. More artificial intelligence + more robots = less need for humans, right? Do we really know what we’re creating? Where will it end? What if AI starts taking over, like in all those movies we’ve seen?

Well, we don’t think that’s going to happen any time soon, if at all. What we do know is AI is here to stay, it’s going to get more and more intelligent and it’s going to start infiltrating all areas of our life.

Should your ethical business start embracing content AI?

In a word, yes. At least, we think so. If it can help you do something you’re struggling with, then why not? Let me explain.

If you’ve been working with us or following our content for a while, you’ll know that we talk a lot about blogging. Why? Because blogging is the single best way to increase high quality traffic to your website – in an ethical way.

Hang on, why is it so ethical? Well, when it comes to attracting visitors to your website, there are 2 ways you can do this:

  • Outbound marketing, where you target the people you think will be interested in what you offer and market to them via things like paid advertising and outreach marketing. This is basically the equivalent of cold calling.
  • Inbound marketing, where you produce content you think your audience will be interested in and allow the right people to find you via organic search.

Obviously, inbound marketing is more ethical, as you’re not trying to force your products and services on people who haven’t asked for them. That’s why blogging – in conjunction with good SEO – is the ethical choice.

For more about blogging + SEO as the inbound marketing strategy that’s worked well for our own business over the years, read our post Why we’re taking a break from social media. We actually used content AI to write some of that post. Can you tell which bits?

Two massive benefits of using content AI

Ok, so how can content AI help with your blogging? The bottom line is, most yoga and wellbeing businesses face 3 main obstacles when it comes to blogging:

  • They don’t have time to write the content themselves.
  • They don’t feel like they’re a good enough writer.
  • It’s too expensive to pay someone else to write for them.

And that’s where content AI comes in. It solves two of the biggest issues facing, not only businesses, but most of modern society today:

  1. Time
  2. Money

If you think about it, most of the things we complain about come down to either not having enough time or not having enough money. And it’s exactly the same with blogging.

The importance of asking good questions in AI

So, what about not feeling like a good enough writer? How do you know that AI will produce anything worthy of being read and not just a load of gibberish? The thing about tools like ChatGPT is they have a vast array of information literally at their fingertips (if AI had fingertips). The entire internet, in fact! So, the questions you ask them have a huge impact on the answers they provide.

Content AI is only as good as the prompt you give it. It’s all about the prompts, baby! Learning how to give AI good instructions in a language it understands is of crucial importance if you want it to provide you with good quality content. Most of us are not as clear as we think we are, so this is a real skill.

Are humans still needed for content creation?

Absolutely! Firstly, because of the point above about the importance of writing good prompts in the first place. But also, because blogging requires a human touch.

The thing about blogging is it’s not simply about writing the actual content of the post. There are lots of other elements to consider too, which content AI can’t necessarily do for you. Or, at least, it can do some of these, but you still need a human to guide the process and steer AI into giving you the best output. These include:

  • Tone of voice
  • Writing and language nuances
  • Keyword research
  • Formatting and laying out the content
  • Adding relevant CTAs (calls-to-action)
  • Choosing a URL
  • Writing the SEO data
  • Adding an excerpt
  • Sourcing and processing suitable images

Also, depending on your business and the topic of the blog post, there are certain things AI simply can’t write. For example, you might want to express your own opinion on a certain topic, explain your approach to teaching yoga or delivering your wellbeing services, or provide a review of a product or event. In these cases, only you can provide the raw content, even if you then use AI or a marketing professional to structure and refine it for you.

So, the best combination for producing regular, high quality content in your blog is: an experienced marketer + content AI.

Do we have a blog writing package?

Ah, we thought you’d never ask! The good news is that we do now have a package for writing your blog posts using a combination of content AI and our own experience.

Remember that skill we said was so important for getting a good output from AI? We’ve been working on this ourselves – translating our clients’ requirements into the language of marketing that AI understands. We act like translators between our clients and AI using our marketing knowledge, which enables us to use content AI very effectively.

And, because we know the yoga and wellbeing industry so well, we have a double advantage – because we can tell if AI is talking nonsense!

Still feeling sceptical or ready to dive in?
